Ungrouped shots

Ungrouped shots let you log rounds fired during a session that weren't part of a formal group: warmup strings, fouling shots, sight-in rounds, or anything else you don't want to attach a group size to. They deduct from inventory the same way groups do and write a shot log entry, so those rounds count toward recipe and firearm analytics even without a measured result.

When to use them

Use a group when you measure a result: you shot a string at a target, measured the spread, and want to track that number. Use ungrouped shots when you burned rounds but didn't measure anything: fouling the barrel before a match, walking rounds onto a target, or finishing off a batch without any intent to record performance data.

Adding ungrouped shots

This feature requires inventory tracking to be enabled in your settings. From a session's detail page, tap Add Ungrouped Shots. Select a caliber, then select the ammo from your inventory for that caliber. Enter the number of rounds fired and save.

Each ammo lot can only have one ungrouped shots record per session. If you need to add more rounds from the same lot later in the session, edit the existing record and update the count. The app adjusts inventory by the difference, not the full new count.

Firearm assignment

This is a Pro feature.

If you have firearms added to your inventory, a firearm picker appears in the ungrouped shots form. Assigning a firearm is optional. When assigned, those rounds are included in that firearm's total rounds fired count in the Firearms tab of Analytics and on the per-firearm analytics page. Only firearms whose caliber matches the selected ammo appear in the picker.

Inventory

Saving decrements the selected ammo's rounds remaining by the shot count. Deleting an ungrouped shots record restores the full count to inventory.

Analytics

Each ungrouped shot entry writes a shot log record. For handloads, those rounds count toward the recipe's total shots fired in recipe analytics. If you assigned a firearm (Pro), those rounds count toward that firearm's total rounds fired.

Ungrouped shots do not affect group size data, environmental correlation, or the best performing load metric. Only formal groups contribute to those calculations.
