Component catalog

The component catalog is the reference list of brass types, primers, powders, bullets, and factory ammo that the app knows about. Inventory tracks how much you have on hand; the catalog defines what that inventory is. Every inventory entry and recipe component links back to a catalog entry.

Global entries

Global entries are seeded by the app from known brands and products. They are visible to all users and cannot be edited or deleted. When you pick a primer or powder in a recipe, you are selecting from this shared list. Most common components are already here. If you use a mainstream powder, primer, or bullet, you will find it without needing to add anything.

If something mainstream is missing, use the Component Request option on the contact form. Include the component name and a source to look it up. Entries are verified against manufacturer and published source data before being added, and most requests are turned around within a few days.

Your private entries

If a component you use is not in the global list, you can add it as a private entry. Private entries are only visible to you and support full edit and delete. Go to Inventory and open the Component Catalog page. Select the component type and click Add in your entries section.

Required fields by type:

• Brass type: caliber is required; manufacturer and headstamp are optional but help distinguish entries when you have brass from multiple sources.
• Primer: brand, name, and primer type (Small Pistol, Large Rifle, etc.) are all required.
• Powder: brand and name are required; powder type (Ball, Flake, Extruded, Tubular) is optional.
• Bullet: caliber, weight in grains, and bullet type are required; brand and diameter are optional. The compatible calibers field lets you assign additional calibers to the entry so the bullet appears in the recipe picker for more than one caliber.
• Ammo: caliber, brand, grain weight, and bullet type are required; name is optional.

Free accounts have no limit on how many private catalog entries you can add. The free-tier limit applies to inventory instead: how many distinct calibers, bullet types, primer types, and powder types you track lots for. See Free vs Pro for the exact numbers.

Adding to inventory from the catalog

Both the Global Components tab and the My Components tab show an Add to Inventory button on each entry. Clicking it opens a form to log a quantity for that component without leaving the catalog page. This is a shortcut. It creates the same inventory record you would get by going to the individual component inventory page directly.

You can also navigate to the specific inventory page (Brass, Primers, Powder, Bullets, or Ammo) and add inventory from there, using the catalog typeahead to pick the entry. Either path creates the same result.

Deleting a private entry

You can delete a private catalog entry from the My Components tab. If the entry has inventory lots linked to it, the delete will be blocked. Remove or clear the associated inventory first, then delete the catalog entry.
